After months of research about visiting the Himalayan region of Ladakh – where they greet you with “Juley” – we’ve abandoned that idea in favour of the forthcoming trip from Delhi to Mumbai, a land where they greet you with “Namaste”.
Having done tons of research on Ladakh, I knew the route that suited us best, the transport possibilities, the places we should visit, the accommodation, the costs of it all. Now, that’s all been thrown out of the window and I’m back to square one: I know nothing about where we’ll be going apart from names of towns and major attractions (forts, caves, waterfalls).
It’s been difficult to adjust and not be disappointed about the lack of mountains on the new trip but with all changes in life, there’s always positives to outweigh the negatives. The positives I’m focusing on are the multiple trains we’ll take and the places I’ve heard so much about but never yet seen, such as Orchha, Hampi, Ellora and Ajanta. Food on the whole should be better than that which awaited us in Ladakh and Emilia and I are especially interested to try the famous Hyderabadi Biryani, allegedly the best biryani in the World.
